Motto
Motto

Use the Motto as a creative way to help reinforce our brand’s heritage. Be sure to use it with another Northeastern mark, such as the wordmark or monogram. 

Use the motto in casual, high-impact environments. It’s a perfect shorthand for merchandise such as hats, totes, tees, and more.

Minimum size

Mark should be no smaller than .75”. 

The Motto can be scaled proportionally, allowing for sufficient legibility. Do not skew, distort, or crop the Motto.

Ring
Ring

This mark may be used as a graphic element or motif in background of designs. No other graphics and marks should appear inside the Ring mark and the mark should not be filled in with a solid color outside of those used for the ring lockup. Use the Ring in playful ways by clipping or layering. The entire word “Northeastern” must be visible.

The ring should be 1”x1” at the smallest.

Ring Lockup

When combined, the Ring and King Husky marks convey the full experience of Northeastern, bringing together the heritage and history of the university with the unifying Husky mascot.  Use the Ring in playful ways by clipping or layering. The entire word “Northeastern” must be visible.

King Husky
King Husky

The King Husky head is one of our most commonly used marks and encapsulates the spirit of the Northeastern community. It must be paired with a second Northeastern mark in the same design. Use the outline version sparingly and only when needed for legibility.  Alternate representations of the King Husky are approved for limited use on a case-by-case basis by University Marketing.

Minimum size

King Husky should not be smaller than .75”.

Standing Husky
Standing Husky

The Standing Husky offers a full body version of the King Husky. It must be paired with a second Northeastern mark in the same design. Use the outline version sparingly and only when needed for legibility. Alternate representations of the Standing Husky are approved for limited use on a case-by-case basis by University Marketing.

Minimum size

Standing Husky should be 1” minimum.

Only the black portion of the husky may be made transparent.

Husky Monogram lockups
Monogram lockups

When combined, the Husky Monogram lockups offer a visual shorthand for the brand. Both versions work at large sizes; use head-only at small sizes. Do not add an outline to the husky in this lockup.

#likeahusky wordmarks

The #likeahusky wordmarks are expressive treatments that can be incorporated in print, environmental and merchandise designs. Always combine these with core brand marks.

Paws the Husky
Who is Paws?

Paws the Husky is our mascot and represents the spirit of the Northeastern community.  
 
From hosting hockey games in Boston to hoisting teacups at Northeastern’s London campus, Paws delights fellow Huskies worldwide. He cheers us on, loves a pop culture moment, and is a trendsetter in his own right. He’s a loveable goof who is as likely to give you a hug as he is to play a prank.  
 
Paws uses he/him pronouns, is gender nonbinary, and is always dressed for the occasion—from rocking his favorite sports jerseys to donning a hot pink Barbie cowboy hat, a sequined cocktail dress, and more.

Style notes

Paws the Husky is the name of Northeastern’s mascot. On second reference, use Paws. Add an apostrophe to form the possessive: Paws’ (no additional s). PAWS is incorrect as his name is not an acronym. 

Usage

As with any of our brand assets, Paws should always be connected to Northeastern University. Use of Paws illustrations or photos should be accompanied by a university mark or in social media contexts through a clearly identified Northeastern handle.

Any creative using Paws must be reviewed and approved by University Marketing via [email protected].

Any promotions of products or other sponsorships must be agreed upon in advance by University Marketing and Athletics. Please send requests to [email protected].

The use of Paws on any Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) products or at any NIL event is strictly prohibited. If there are questions, please notify the Northeastern University Athletic Compliance Office, as well as University Marketing.

Paws is copyrighted and licensed by Northeastern University. The trademark symbol must appear when used on apparel and promotional items.

By working together, our brand is stronger. The university has a strict Brand Governance policy for review and approval of all media plans and creative assets before they go into market.
