A lockup is a combination of multiple brand elements that “lock up” to each other, meaning that they are presented as one unit with specified spacing and alignment. The University Lockup specifically includes an element to the left of the Wordmark. There are three versions of the University Lockup, ranging from informal to most formal: N Wordmark Lockup, Notched N:motto Wordmark Lockup, and Seal Wordmark Lockup.
The Seal Wordmark Lockup should be reserved for use by the following offices: the Office of the President, the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Chancellor, University Advancement, and the offices of the college deans (including associate deans).
Exceptions to this rule are on a case-by-case case basis when the full academic weight of the brand is required. Examples include events with external academic partners and/or audiences, some student recruitment events, and certain government relations activities. Scaling, Cropping, and Size
The University Lockups can be scaled proportionally to many sizes. Do not skew or distort the mark. When using the University Lockup in a small application, use the N Wordmark Lockup version. The Notched N:motto and Seal Lockups should only be used when they can be at least 1 inch tall. The safe zone around the University Lockup is equal to half the icon height.
The University Lockups are available in many combinations of the primary brand colors: black, white, and red. They should not be used in any other color.
